GL Education has won a prestigious GESS Education Award for the Best Paid for ICT App / Product for its Progress Test Series. They scooped the trophy during a ceremony held at the H Hotel in Dubai yesterday.
The award recognises the role that GL Education’s Progress Test Series plays in giving teachers a clear and objective measure of pupil progress. Indeed, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has listed the Progress Test Series as a suitable assessment for schools teaching the UK Curriculum to use as evidence in inspections.

With a new national curriculum and the biggest shake-up in assessment for a generation, it has been a challenging time for teachers.

The Progress Test Series assesses children aged from 5 to 14 in maths, English and science, giving a clear view of each pupil’s year-on-year progress and benchmarking them against the national average. Schools can see at the click of a button how individuals and pupil groups are progressing so that gaps can be identified and interventions put in place.
GL Education supports a number of schools in the Middle East and beyond in their use of the Progress Test Series. As Nahmiya Shajas, Primary Math Co-ordinator from GEMS New Millennium School, Al Khail, explains, “The question by question analysis in Progress Test in Maths has helped us to identify the questions which are mostly attempted by the students and which questions they could not answer. Now, teachers are able to draw up a list of topics to directly address any gaps in knowledge. This has led to a process of reviewing the curriculum and all of this contributes to our school development plan.
“By using the series every year, we will build a very powerful and complete picture of children’s attainment as they move through the school and this will help their achievements accelerate,” Nahmiya continues.
