Originally developed in partnership with the Independent Schools Examinations Board (ISEB) and formerly known as the ISEB Common Pre-Test, this online, adaptive assessment provides a standardised measure of ability and attainment for Year 6 and Year 7 pupils. It is designed to support the applications process by giving senior schools information about prospective pupils’ attainment and potential.
The test is in multiple-choice format and takes 2 hours 30 minutes to complete. It covers four areas – verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, English and mathematics – and has been standardised for the independent sector, giving consistency across each cohort.
Marking and results are managed electronically, and each candidate is awarded a Standard Age Score.
The Adaptive Admissions Test will be available in the 2022/23 academic year. If you have previously used the ISEB Common Pre-Test or if you are an independent school looking for an adaptive admissions test, this test will provide you with consistency in your admissions data year-on-year.
