The WellComm toolkits relied on by so many early years settings, schools, speech and language therapists and health visitors to identify and address speech and language issues in young children are becoming digital.
The simple-to-use digital version of WellComm Early Years (6 months – 6 years) and WellComm Primary (6 years – 11 years), will be rolled out alongside the paper counterparts in early 2024.
The paperless version makes it easier to spot speech and language delays early on. Practitioners simply work through a guided observation with a child on a tablet or laptop, with the picture prompts displayed on a second digital device or by using the paper picture book. Targeted activities, 150 in total, are then presented automatically to help address the specific issues uncovered. These activities can be shared digitally with parents and carers for further practice and support at home.
Anyone working with children can administer WellComm, it requires no speech and language expertise. This means that children get support straight away, including while they wait for referrals to a specialist.
