Exact is not a dedicated test of reading or literacy attainment. If you wish to establish a detailed understanding of reading skills, we would strongly encourage you to use the NGRT, which provides a more robust profile of reading strengths and challenges.

Exact was designed to be administered with students who have been identified as needing adaptations in the classroom and are likely to be supported through their normal way of working. Typically, the test would be administered either one-to-one or with small groups to ensure that the handwriting subtest (particularly) is closely monitored. Administering the test with a high number of students simultaneously may limit the degree to which accurate observations can be made of students during the test process. We strongly advise to validate results from the handwriting dictation test to ensure that accurate raw data is used to generate SAS.
