BAS3

A comprehensive, flexible means of assessing various aspects of cognitive functioning from 3 to 18 years.

Significant research and customer feedback have shaped this long-established battery of 20 individual scales, used by psychologists to assess children referred for learning and behavioural difficulties. The scales allow for a comparison of these issues against the child’s educational progress. They can pinpoint gifted and talented pupils as well as underachievers.

The range of measurement facilities and variety of scales means that BAS3 is trusted by educational, clinical and research psychologists to give valid and reliable scores. The user-friendly scoring and reporting software supports communication with parents, pupils, teachers and senior leaders.

BAS3 customers receive free access to the automated BAS3 Scoring and Reporting Service when buying the complete set.

How BAS3 can help you

Single assessment instrument

A convenient, flexible and adaptable single instrument to assess cognitive abilities and achievement at all ages from pre-school to the end of secondary. Each scale stands alone and allows the psychologist to select only the scales relevant to the child’s age and the concerns being investigated, allowing efficient, reliable and valid identification of the child’s strengths and development needs.

Trusted, efficient, reliable

The great flexibility of BAS3 enables the psychologist to be a thinking practitioner and not just a test administrator.

Automated scoring and reporting

The Scoring and Reporting Service makes the conversion of BAS3 scores quicker, easier and less prone to errors when hand scoring. The user-friendly printouts summarise all the child’s scores. The extended service allows the psychologist to access templates supporting technical report writing and reporting to parents.

FAQs

Do I have to use all the scales in BAS3?

There are certain scales that have to be used if you want to obtain an overall summary score for the child’s cognitive ability. However, you do not have to do this and may pick and choose from the 20 scales depending on what suits your assessment purposes.
