Head of Statistics
Cres is a professional statistician with over 20 years’ experience in assessment data. As Head of Statistics, he has been involved in developing most of the assessments produced at GL Assessment. These include the popular Progress Test Series in English and maths and the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4), which are used in more than 90 countries. Cres is also involved in research underpinning these assessments by looking at how well they correlate with national examinations.
Cres has an interest in computer adaptive tests and has helped to develop the algorithms for GL Assessment's own range, including the New Group Reading Test (NGRT) and New Group Spelling Test (NGRT).
Before he joined GL Assessment, Cres was a senior statistician at the National Foundation for Educational Research for 12 years, where he was responsible for the analysis of England’s contribution to the Trends in International Maths and Science Study (TIMSS) involving over 50 countries.
He is a graduate of City University, where he gained a Masters in statistics and operational research.
