Introduction
Progress in English is a series of writing and reading assessments for 5 to 14 year olds that measure reading and writing in an accessible way, enabling teachers to produce individual or group profiles of their pupils’ strengths and needs. With a test per year, this standardised series provides rich diagnostic information about pupils’ ability in literacy.
A new edition of Progress in English 7-11 was published in January 2006, offering users a seamless transition from the first edition. The new tests consist of both an easily manageable short test and a longer form that assesses a wider range of literacy attainments. This series is also available in digital format (Progress in English 7-11 Digital).
Progress in English 7-11 Digital gives pupils and teachers all the benefits of the paper test, plus data can be exported so that pupils’ results can be analysed. Instant scoring and reporting means hours of marking time are saved!
From September 2008 it will also include the innovative Lexile Framework™ for Reading, providing enriched actionable information to support the development and monitoring of each pupils literacy, without the need for any additional testing. Find out more about Lexiles.
The full colour on-screen tests and interactive delivery make taking writing and reading assessments simple and fun. Instantly generated reports sent to the teacher’s desktop identify how an individual or class is performing against the national average, and provide a clear, objective review of progress.
